Bulgarian meeting
“PRIDE AND PREJUDICE”– overcoming stereotypes
Our first Comenius project meeting took place in Dobrich, Bulgaria at the Veterinary Highschool Dr. George Pavlov from 8th to 11th of November 2009.
Together with the Bulgarian team there were representatives (teachers and students) of all eight countries involved (Belgium, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia, Sweden, Romania and Turkey).
The agenda of the meeting consisted in:
- Official opening with the local and regional authorities;
- A presentation of each partner school
- Establishing the responsibilities of each team during the first year of activities
- Visiting the Bulgarian seacoast as a part of their national pride
- A tour of the veterinary highschool Dr. George Pavlov;
- Getting used to Bulgarian educational system
- Visiting an orphanage in order to help demolish the existent stereotype;
- Making the questionnaire as a useful tool of gathering data regarding both the national stereotypes and the things that make us proud of our nation;
- Exhibition with the finalist logos and choosing the logo of the project through a contest;
- Workshop on taking good pictures – developing the necessary skills to be used in making the documentaries and in illustrating the brochure and the website;
- Discussing the webpage (design, content, structure);
The meeting in Bulgaria represented for all of us a new and exciting experience, we got in touch with a different culture and we were strongly impressed by the very well organized programme and by the warm people we met. It could be seen the experience offered by so many European projects the school has been involved in so far.
